GENERIC PATCH
EXCHANGE WITH
LISTS & TABLES IN
INSTRUMENTS
Applications and Concept
If you are working with MIDI files or style files, you might have faced this
scenario very often: The file was created for a specific MIDI instrument and if
you want to play it on your keyboard, you have to substitute the sound
patches used in the files with the sound patches available in your keyboard.
This is a time-consuming process as you have to do this adaptation for each
file.
GELI can be used to adapt Styles (for arrangers) and MIDI Files (*.mid) to the
capabilities of a specific MIDI keyboard and will furthermore consider the
limitations of the keyboard. This makes the work flow for the adaptation of a
MIDI file or Style file very convenient.
But what is even more efficient and what makes GELI to a unique tool for the
adpatation of MIDI and Style files is the connection to a database. In this
database each substitution of a patch (e.g. you might substitute the patch
Piano 1 in the files with the A. PIano 01 in your keyboard) is stored. So if you
want to adapt a further file with GELI, you will save a lot of time as GELI will
automatically substitute each patch based on the selected adpatation from
previous files. So the more file you convert, the faster and simpler the
conversion will be as GELI is a self-learning application.
Obviously GELI is not limited to the substitution of the sound patches as
GELI can also learn and substitute (automatically) each individual drum of
the drum kits.
Control all parameters and settings
GELI has a very open architecture and te file format of the database can be
viewed with any text editor. This allows the user to control nearly every
option and parameter of the algorithms,
Currently the next release of GELI is developed and further information
about the features will be published here as soon as the new release will be
available.
